International Music Composition Contest
"Goffredo Petrassi"
DEADLINE EXTENSION
The Direction office of the Premio Petrassi Award has decided
to extend the deadline of the International Music Composition
Award “Goffredo Petrassi” to September 2012.
The main reason that led us to this decision is that the
International Music Composition Award Petrassi is achieved
through the participation and contribution of the Municipality
of Latina which currently has no mayor in office but is under
a Commissioner so at this time has no possibility of financing
the project..
However, we would like to point out to all those who have
already completed the registration to the contest that the
organization will return the amount paid to all those who,
now taking into account the new deadline, are unable to participate.
The revised notice of competition will be published online
as soon as the new terms of participation to the Contest will
be defined.

Petrassi Award 2009 has a Winner
The Third Edition of the International Music Composition Award “Premio Petrassi 2009”, entitled to the famous Italian composer, has been completed successfully. The final ceremony held on February the 17th at the Auditorium of the Music Conservatory of Latina has been concluded, from the first time since its launch, with a winner.
The members of the jury; Maestro Morricone (Chairman), Mº Antonio Poce and Mº Paolo Rotolo, after taking into examination and listening the works of the final prospects for both tests -a free and an applied composition (the film to be set to music was the short film “Photo” directed by Giovanni Morricone)- had deliberate the results of the contest: Enrica Sciandrone was the absolute winner of the Contest for both tests (Free composition an applied to a short film) with the pieces “Requiem for the earth” and “Photo”. Matteo Riparbelli was awarded with a Special Mention by the jury for the free composition with the piece “Flussi”. Giovanni Cernicchiaro was awarded with the special mention for the composition of the piece “Photo” which was applied to the short film.
We expect that The International Music Composition Award “Goffredo Petrassi” may become a valuable tool for selecting the best young talented composers from all over the world, with this goal in mind, the Association Ars Latina, with the contribution of the Municipality of Latina and thanks to the valuable collaboration with the Conservatory of Music of Latina “Ottorino Respighi” are already working on the Fourth Edition of the Contest which will be concluded in December 2011 and its Notice of Competition will be soon published at www.premiopetrassi.it
